THRIVE

Our Mission: Restoring Identity, Reviving the Soul & Transforming lives through horses

Vision: Cross Keys Equine Therapy’s vision for the THRIVE program is that children and families will be transformed as they experience the powerful love of Jesus Christ through relationship with horse and mentor.

Fall 2021 Dates: To Be Determined

Thrive is about experiencing the love of Jesus through a unique encounter between the horse and the participant. Through our interactions with the horse we experience the heart of Father God for us and healing happens. Our Thrive program offers a chance to come just as we are, and opens an opportunity to experience – love, hope, and a sense of belonging. We believe when we experience the powerful love of Jesus Christ transformation happens.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

TRUTH

allows the girls to see themselves as God sees them – creative, unique, beautiful, beloved and important. It gives them opportunities to recognize lie-based thinking and skills to seek truth in their own lives.

Truth says, “You are worthy.”

HORSEMANSHIP

empowers girls to be honest, engaged, caring, trustworthy, and to work hard for what they want. Horses teach authenticity and equality, while giving immediate and accurate feedback about how people are with them. Horsemanship teaches teaches girls about themselves and the relationships that they create.

Horsemanship says, “You are responsible.”

RELATIONSHIP

heals the deepest wounds of the heart, which are caused by brokenness in relationship. Relational skills and concepts can be “re-learned” through experiences with horses and then transferred in relationships with peers and adults. Relationship is at the heart of healing. Family relationships are vital to health and well-being.

Relationship says, “I choose you.”

Identity

We are who God says we are.  Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in his own image.  In the image of God, he created them; male and female he created them.”  Identity says we are all created in God’s image.  For those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior, identity also says that we are a new creation.  We are redeemed, fruitful, pure, accepted, and worthy.

Identity says, “We are beloved.”

VALUE

speaks to the inherent worth of every person. What we believe about ourselves determines our decisions and behavior. This impacts everything in our lives! Those who believe that they have true value as people, equal to others, are those who work hard to pursue their dreams and are able to rest from seeking value and acceptance from others.

Value says, “You have great worth.”

EXPERIENCE

teaches by doing and enables girls to discover new possibilities. Through experience girls learn new ways to live and to be in the world. With the horses, girls learn to take risks and deal with success and failure, to work together, problem solve and make decisions. Special events in the community provide experiences that would otherwise be impossible.

Experience says, “You can do it!”

Interested in volunteering with Thrive as a mentor?

We are currently in need of passionate and caring adults (18+) who love Jesus, to serve as mentors in our THRIVE program. This program pairs an adolescent girl with an adult and horse 🐴 and runs on Tuesday evenings for 8 weeks. Mentors are provided training and support prior to starting with their mentee. We have loved watching relationships built in trust form between mentors and mentee over the last several years. If you’re interested in becoming a mentor or would like more information, please contact our THRIVE Coordinator, Jennifer Roscher at thrive@crosskeysequinetherapy.org
